The State of R&B

Not that I really care, because being from where I'm from you can get a heavy dose of this genre on the daily. But what is the state of R&B? People are so worried about hip hop dying or being dead or whatever, but there was a time when R&B ruled the charts and basically took over. However have you noticed that they have become somewhat mediocre acts, once double platinum selling artist are now doing Reality shows, and are barely making platinum. Did any one notice that Usher had an album out? The same with Brandy, yeah she had some singles and a couple of videos but now she is a guest on American Idol? What that is telling me is that things didn't work out so well with the Album thingy, so now you have resorted into doing other things to make income, which I am not mad at, at all. Ne-yo is big, but Ne-Yo wrote many of those artists songs which puts him in a relevant situation allowing him to bask in the fruits of his labor. Like is Beyonce who I won't say is R&B, but since she is a black girl that sings.....you know what I mean.......Is she taking over? Not even she is selling like she once did either when she was with Destiny's Child yeah she is major don't get me wrong, but she's got more than just R&B under her sleeve. What's up with Monica? Too many guest appearances at parties and not enough hustle into a new album. Jazmine Sullivan is big right now, I feel though that if she would had appeared in the early 2000's she would be FAMOUS and not famous...You feel me? The same with Chrisette Michelle, Robin Thicke, and speaking of white R&B it's funny how the colors have shifted the white's seem to venture into R&B and the black's have ventured in to Rock/Alternative music...I happen to like it a lot.
