No "LIE" Relaxer:
David Banner a few months ago spoke at an HBCU I forget exactly which one, but the topic is on the destruction of black hair. Why do black women feel the need to perm their hair? There are some who do it for versatile reasons I do understand that. However there are many though that do it basically because they have been doing it since they were kids. That's probably why your hair hasn't grown past your shoulders or ears for that matter, because you are perming your hair. Destroying it's natural growth system, with some shit invited by god knows who for black women to fit in the all white work place, not be considered too black, or other bullshit reasons. So get this though... it's now 2009, I'm not saying grow dreads and have an afro and start burning incesnce and listening to Bob Marley, because those Nature People can be lost too. Note, you can achieve alternative hairstyles through heat as well. Yeah I know it's not good for your hair either, but poison should not be the other option. Black people we all have different hair types just like our personalities, so let it ride out and see what kind of personality you might be hiding under all that damn PCJ.

ok you also have to know that there are non chemical or heat activated ways to straighten your hair. in west africa, which is from where my parentals hail it is/was commonplace to thread your hair. after about 2 days it was as straight as a relaxer. i know as that is how my hair was easily maintained most of my childhood before i grew our of patience and got a "perm"
