To those black women out there, because you perm your hair. Does this mean that you hate yourself? Why do you perm your hair? Do you want to be white?
Or do you just like the versatility? Or maybe you just don't like having kinky hair? But does that mean you have been brainwashed to not like yourself?
And does that shit even look healthy?.....I mean really c'mon.
Think about it and get back to me.

You know I'm gonna answer this because I used to get my hair premed regularly. I haven't premed my hair in a year and some change now because I found out the serious negatives about it. But when I did perm my hair all the time it was because that was all I knew since I was 13. If I or my mother in this case would have made me more aware or I could have known more about the negatives my thoughts and actions would have been different.
My thoughts
Sadly a lot of sisters do not even get an opportunity to learn about "versatility," you can be versatile withour poisoning the skin atop of your brain.
Self hate is a factor but most sisters suffer from not being able to identify with beauty that is their own.
When I think of self hate I think of latoya jackson, micheal, janet, lil kim, allegra versace, tori spelling, that cat lady, kelly rowland,& this guy named Elvis who I went to school with.
The relaxer/jheri curl/s-curl/miss jessies (make your negro naps look like mixed hair) chemical treatment is just lack of knowledge of self & ignorance of the obvious.
